He holds a MA in political sciences. He joined the Egyptian diplomatic corps and worked in the Egyptian embassies abroad. He also joined the Center for Political and Strategic Studies in Al-Ahram Establishment. He worked in the Arab League as president of the Arab Fund for Technical Assistance to African countries and was the acting president of the General Directorate of Palestinian Affairs. Along with other colleagues, he established, and is now the president of the Arabic Center for Development and Future Research. He contributed to the establishment of the daily newspaper Shorouk and the magazine “Weghat Nazar”. He wrote many books and articles. He is a member in the Egyptian Council for Foreign Affairs, a member of the board of trustees of the Center for Arab Unity Studies, a member of the board of trustees of the Arab Organization for Translation, a member of the board of trustees of the Center for Egyptian Women’s Legal Assistance and a member of the board of trustees of the Institute for Palestine Studies.
