Waleed Al Banawi from Saudi Arabia is vice chairman of the Jeddah-based Banawi Industrial Group, one of the leading manufacturing groups in the Gulf and MENA region, with core businesses in packaging and chemicals. He leads the group’s business development and new business ventures in key global growth markets.
His early schooling was in Lebanon, Switzerland, France and Germany. During the early 1980s he lived in the US, graduating from Rice University, Texas, in managerial studies and political science, later studying advanced management at INSEAD.  Since that period he has actively engaged with leading thinkers in business, academia and policymaking.
With over 20 years experience as a corporate leader in the Gulf region, he keeps himself closely informed on political, social and business trends both of the Middle East and the wider world. His academic interests and global business experience have led to his strong commitment to public service goals, promoting change as vital to his region’s future.
