Waleed Elkhereiji was appointed Director General of the Grain Silos and Flour Mills Organization in Saudi Arabia in February 2009.  From 2002 to 2009 he was Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to the Netherlands and permanent representative to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons.  He has also served as the Kingdom’s permanent representative at FAO and WFP and as director-general of agriculture and water for the Makkah region.

He has been called upon to represent the Kingdom on numerous occasions at international conferences, political and economic symposia and in cultural and social activities.  In August 2008 he was chairman and head of the Saudi delegation at the second review conference of the Chemical Weapons Convention in The Hague.

In 2006 he was named Ambassador of the Year in the Netherlands, the first Arab ambassador to achieve this distinction. He was born in Medina and studied civil engineering in the United States of America.
