Atul Arya

Atul Arya is BP’s Chief Advisor for Energy and Climate Policy, charged with developing the company’s long range strategy and climate policies.  Since joining in 1988, he has held a number of strategic and technical positions within the firm including Chief Operating Officer for BP Solar, as well as leading roles within BP’s Exploration and Production arms.   He is a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council on Climate Change and sits on the advisory board of the National Council for Atmospheric Research (USA).  He has previously worked as an industry consultant for the petroleum sector in the US, UK and the Middle East and currently holds the position of Distinguished Lecturer for the Society of Petroleum Engineers.
Atul holds a doctorate in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.
