Tayseer Al-Smadi

Tayseer Al-Smadi is the Chairman of the Islamic International Arab Bank, based in Jordan. Prior to taking up the chairmanship, he spent 17 years in public service with the Government of Jordan as Minister of Planning & International Cooperation, Minister of Public Sector Reform and Chairman of the Civil Service Council.  He has also served as both Secretary General and Director of Policies & Studies for the Ministry of Planning & International Cooperation.  He is currently on the Board of Trustees for the Jordan Hashemite Fund for Human Development and has held a number of directorships including for the Arab Bank Group and the Arab Bank of Tunisia.  
The author of a number of economic papers in both Arabic and English, Mr. Al-Smadi holds a PhD in Economics from Utah State University and an MSc in Economics from the University of Jordan.
